1. Clinical Competencies

A. Cognitive Clinical Management

  • Perform and document detailed history and physical examination
  • Formulate differential diagnoses
  • Develop and document initial plan of care
  • Modify and update daily plan of care
  • Write daily progress notes
  • Interpret laboratory and radiology results
  • Interpret hemodynamic parameters in critically ill patients
  • Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries
  • Participate in academic and teaching activities (intra & interdepartmental)

B. Clinical Non-Invasive Management

  • Obtain and document informed consent
  • Perform pre-operative workup
  • Order appropriate referrals and investigations
  • Prescribe medications and treatment plans
  • Order transfusion of blood and blood products
  • Manage and adjust artificial feeding modalities
  • Ensure accurate documentation and record maintenance
  • Ensure compliance with infection control protocols

C. Clinical Invasive Management

  • Assist in orthopaedic surgical procedures
  • Perform procedures as per granted privileges
  • Insert central venous catheter
  • Perform oral endotracheal intubation and tracheostomy
  • Perform nasogastric intubation and wound dressing
  • Insert urethral catheter
  • Assist in diagnostic invasive procedures
  • Maintain sterile surgical environment in OT
  • Provide intraoperative support and post-operative care

2. Clinical Responsibilities

  • Perform surgeries and procedures independently as per hospital privileges
  • Document operation notes and post-operative care plans
  • Verify clinical findings and medication orders by junior staff
  • Provide patient education as required
  • Ensure all medical records include date, time, name, and signature
  • Countersign verbal orders when necessary
  • Respond to patient complaints reported by staff
  • Authorize patient discharge and guide junior staff accordingly
  • Attend all emergencies during on-call duty
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures
  • Ensure quality standards and closure of non-conformities

3. Teaching & Academic Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in teaching programs
  • Conduct academic sessions for residents and fellows
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and conferences (local, regional, national)
  • Guide theses for fellows, residents, and PhD candidates

4. Research Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical and medical research
  • Contribute to development of new treatment methods and techniques
  • Participate in clinical studies and publications

5. Documentation & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation
  • Ensure adherence to NABH and hospital accreditation standards
  • Follow infection control and patient safety protocols
