Associate Consultant – Adult Critical Care
Role: Associate Consultant / Intensivist – Adult Critical Care
Department: Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Key responsibilities
- Manage critically ill adult patients in medical, surgical and multidisciplinary ICUs.
- Conduct initial assessment, diagnosis, stabilization and ongoing ICU management.
- Manage mechanical ventilation, NIV, sepsis, shock, ARDS and multi-organ failure.
- Perform procedures such as endotracheal intubation, central venous catheterization, arterial lines and other bedside procedures, according to credentialing.
- Conduct daily ICU rounds and coordinate care with consultants, surgeons, physicians, nurses and other specialties.
- Respond to emergencies and participate in CPR/Code Blue and resuscitation.
- Monitor hemodynamics, laboratory investigations and imaging and modify treatment plans accordingly.
- Communicate treatment plans and prognosis effectively with patients' families.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, discharge summaries and ICU records.
- Follow infection-control, patient-safety and NABH/quality protocols.
- Assist senior consultants and supervise junior doctors where appropriate.
- Participate in clinical audits, teaching, quality improvement and departmental activities.
