Reporting To: Clinical Director
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Responsibilities

Admit patients and perform procedures independently as per privileges granted under hospital policy.

Conduct inpatient rounds independently and along with Junior Consultants and Duty Medical Officers (DMOs).

Document procedure notes and post-procedure care plans accurately in the medical records.

Supervise Registrars and ensure duties are carried out efficiently and effectively.

Verify examination findings and medication orders written by Junior Consultants and Registrars.
-
Provide patient education whenever required regarding treatment and procedures.

Ensure all medical record entries include date, time, name, and signature.

Countersign verbal orders given to DMOs, Junior Consultants, and Registrars when required.

Prepare the Operation Theatre (OT) rota in coordination with the Registrar on call.

Prepare the On-Call rota in coordination with colleagues and Registrars within the department.

Address patient complaints reported by Registrars or Nursing staff when necessary.

Authorize patient discharge based on clinical condition and instruct Registrars/Residents to complete the process.

Attend to all emergency cases during on-call duty.

Provide training and clinical guidance to Residents and Registrars.

Ensure adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.

Support compliance with quality standards and ensure closure of non-conformities.
2. Research Responsibilities
-
Conduct medical research to contribute to disease control, treatment advancements, and development of new medical techniques.

Investigate new medications and clinical procedures.

Act as a thesis guide for Fellows, Residents, and PhD candidates.
3. Teaching Responsibilities
-
Participate actively in departmental and institutional teaching activities.
-
Conduct training sessions for Residents, Fellows, and Junior Consultants.
-
Organize workshops, seminars, and conferences at local, regional, and national levels.
