Job Description: Consultant – Paediatric Medicine

Job Title: Consultant – Paediatric Medicine

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct outpatient consultations and inpatient rounds for paediatric patients.

• Diagnose and manage common and complex paediatric medical conditions.

• Provide comprehensive care for neonates, infants, children, and adolescents as per the hospital's scope of services.

• Assess and manage paediatric emergencies and critically ill children.

• Coordinate with the NICU/PICU and other specialties when required.

• Interpret laboratory investigations, imaging, and other diagnostic reports.

• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

• Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans appropriately.

• Counsel parents/guardians regarding diagnosis, treatment, nutrition, vaccination, and preventive healthcare.

• Maintain accurate medical records, clinical notes, discharge summaries, and other documentation.

• Ensure compliance with hospital clinical protocols, infection-control practices, and patient-safety standards.

• Participate in clinical meetings, case discussions, audits, and quality-improvement initiatives.

• Support teaching and training of residents, interns, and nursing/paramedical staff.

• Promote evidence-based and ethical paediatric practice.
