Nurse Practitioner
Purpose of the Role
The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing advanced clinical nursing care — assessment, diagnosis, management and follow-up of patients — as part of a multidisciplinary care team. The role will ensure alignment with patient safety, quality and documentation standards of NABH and JCI, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and uphold the hospital’s commitment to excellence in clinical care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care & Management

Perform comprehensive patient assessments (history, physical exam, diagnostics) and formulate management plans in collaboration with physicians.

Initiate, monitor and adjust patient treatment and therapeutic interventions (within institutional scope/privileges).

Manage and prioritise patient care across the continuum (inpatient → outpatient → discharge & follow-up).

Provide patient education, counselling and support families regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, preventive care and follow-up.

Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, case discussions and handover processes; ensure continuity of care.
Quality, Safety & Accreditation Compliance

Adhere to, promote and monitor compliance with hospital policies, procedures and standard operating protocols (SOPs) aligned with NABH “Nursing Excellence” chapters (e.g., Nursing Care of Patients; Medication Management; Education, Communication & Guidance) NABH International

Assist with audits, documentation, incident/reporting investigations, root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) as per hospital quality governance frameworks.

Support the hospital’s accreditation readiness: ensure compliance with JCI standards with respect to staff qualifications, patient safety goals, documentation, infection-prevention, handoffs, etc. nabh.org.in+2nabh.org.in+2

Monitor key performance and quality indicators (e.g., patient falls, medication errors, infection rates) and contribute to improvement initiatives.
Documentation & Clinical Governance

Document all patient care, progress notes, orders, discharge summaries, referrals, following the hospital’s medical record policy.

Ensure that nursing and allied documentation meets accreditation requirements (legibility, timeliness, completeness, confidentiality).

Participate in the development, review and implementation of clinical protocols, care pathways and nursing guidelines.
Education, Mentorship & Leadership

Mentor and support junior nursing staff, trainee nurses, interns in clinical skills, protocols and quality practices.

Conduct/participate in in-service training, continuing nursing education (CNE) and competency programmes.

Promote evidence-based nursing practice and quality culture in the department.
Collaboration & Coordination
-
Liaise with physicians, allied health, pharmacy, diagnostics, infection control, quality and other departments to ensure integrated patient care.

Participate in departmental meetings, committees (e.g., Quality, Infection Control, Accreditation) as required.

Engage with patients and family members for feedback, education and service improvement.
