Physician Assistant

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct detailed patient histories, physical exams, and preoperative evaluations to prepare patients for cardiac surgery.

• Assist surgeons during cardiac surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve repair/replacement, heart transplantation, and other complex cardiac surgeries.

• Manage postoperative patient care, including monitoring recovery, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing pain and complications, and coordinating discharge planning.

• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and contribute to the development of individualized patient care plans.

• Perform minor procedures and assist with invasive lines and drains as necessary.

• Provide patient and family education on disease processes, surgical procedures, and postoperative care.

• Document all patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).

• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory requirements.

• Stay current with advances in cardiac surgery and contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical research as applicable.
