Senior Registrar – General Medicine
Department: General Medicine / Internal Medicine
Reports To: Consultant Physician / Head of Department
Role Summary
The Senior Registrar in General Medicine provides comprehensive care to adult patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. The role involves clinical management, supervision of junior doctors, participation in teaching activities, emergency care, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients in OPD, wards, ICU, and emergency settings.
- Conduct detailed history taking, physical examinations, and clinical assessments.
- Order and interpret laboratory investigations, imaging, and other diagnostic tests.
- Formulate and implement evidence-based treatment plans.
- Perform daily ward rounds and monitor patient progress.
- Manage medical emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts.
- Coordinate patient care with consultants, nursing staff, and other specialties.
- Supervise and mentor junior residents, interns, and medical students.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and discharge summaries.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and academic activities.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS with MD/DNB in General Medicine (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Valid medical registration with the relevant medical council.
- Experience in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency medical care.
