Role Summary
A Duty Doctor provides round-the-clock clinical care for admitted patients and emergency cases, ensuring timely treatment and coordination with specialists and nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine and assess OPD/IPD/emergency patients
- Handle medical emergencies and stabilize patients
- Conduct ward rounds and monitor patient progress
- Prescribe medications and initiate treatment plans
- Assist consultants during rounds and procedures
- Maintain patient documentation, discharge summaries, and EHR updates
- Coordinate with nurses, labs, radiology, ICU, and other departments
- Perform basic bedside procedures:
- IV line insertion
- Catheterization
- Suturing
- CPR/BLS
- Nebulization
- ECG interpretation
- Communicate patient status to families and consultants
- Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and medico-legal documentation
