Job Purpose:

Pediatric Cardiologists evaluate and care for fetuses, neonates, infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and adults. Special areas of clinical and academic interest include: Intensive Cardiac Care, Cardiac Catheterization and Intervention, Electrophysiology, Imaging, Fetal Cardiology, Exercise Physiology, Preventive Cardiology, Heart Failure and Transplantation, and Pulmonary Hypertension

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Cognitive Clinical Management:
  • Overall Management of day to day working of PITU/ Wards/Cath lab/ Echo lab.
  •  Categorizing High risk Patient.                                                                                                                        
  •  Supervising  training of all Fellows.
  •  Discharge/transfer decisions.
  •  Administrative Control of Fellows.
  •  Duty roster of Fellows.
  •  Ensure documentation history & physical examination.
  •  Formulate differential diagnosis.
  •  Develop and document initial plan of care*
  •  Modifies daily plan of care*
  •  Writes progress notes.
  •  Obtain and document informed consent.
  •  Order appropriate referrals*
  • Order appropriate investigations.
  •  Interpret hemodynamic parameters in critically ill patients*
  •  Interpret laboratory & radiology results.
  •  Orders transfusions of blood and blood products.
  •  Order appropriate medication and other orders.
  •  Prepare an appropriate discharge summary.
  •  Communicate information to relatives about the patient condition twice a day for critical patient and once a day for other patients.
  •  Hand over during the shift change. 
  1. Clinical Non-invasive Management:
  • Perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • Orders, adjusts artificial feeding modalities
  • Interpret non-invasive cardiac testing*
  • Perform bedside ECHO
  1. Clinical Invasive Management :
  • Inserts central venous catheter
  • Performs oral endotracheal intubation
  • Performs nasogastric intubation
  • Inserts urethral catheter
  • Perform angiographic procedures*       ( excluding Dr.Kiran)
  • Temporary pacing.
