Job Description – Senior Resident, Department of Neurology

Designation: Senior Resident
Department: Neurology
Reports To: Head of Department / Consultant Neurologist

Job Responsibilities

  • Examine and assess patients with neurological disorders.

  • Manage inpatients, outpatients, and neurological emergencies.

  • Attend emergency and on-call duties as per the duty roster.

  • Assist consultants in diagnosis and treatment planning.

  • Manage common neurological conditions such as stroke, seizures, headache, epilepsy, neuropathy, and movement disorders.

  • Assist in procedures such as lumbar puncture and other neurological procedures as required.

  • Review and interpret relevant investigations such as CT/MRI, EEG, EMG/NCS, and laboratory tests.

  • Maintain proper patient records, case sheets, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

  • Communicate with patients and their relatives regarding treatment and progress.

  • Coordinate with other departments for multidisciplinary patient care.

  • Participate in teaching, case discussions, seminars, and academic activities.

  • Participate in research, audits, and departmental quality-improvement activities.

  • Follow hospital policies, infection-control practices, and patient-safety guidelines.

  • Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • MD/DNB in General Medicine or Pediatrics with DM/DNB/DrNB Neurology, as applicable.

  • Valid medical registration.

  • Good clinical and communication skills.
