Qualification

  • MBBS recognized by NMC
  • MD/DNB in General Medicine / Pediatrics / Radiotherapy (as per institutional eligibility) or DM/DNB Medical Oncology where applicable
  • Valid State Medical Council/NMC registration

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Duties

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with solid tumors and hematological malignancies.
  • Conduct detailed history taking, physical examinations, and clinical assessments.
  • Formulate treatment plans under consultant supervision.
  • Assist in administration and monitoring of chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care.
  • Manage oncology emergencies such as febrile neutropenia, tumor lysis syndrome, spinal cord compression, and hypercalcemia.
  • Monitor treatment response and manage adverse effects of anticancer therapies.
  • Participate in inpatient care, ward rounds, ICU consultations, and outpatient oncology clinics.

Patient Care & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate medical records, chemotherapy charts, consent forms, discharge summaries, and follow-up notes.
  • Review laboratory investigations, pathology reports, and imaging studies.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, prognosis, and adverse effects.

Multidisciplinary Coordination

  • Participate in Tumor Board meetings.
  • Coordinate with surgical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, palliative care, nursing, pharmacy, and allied specialties.
  • Ensure adherence to institutional oncology protocols and patient safety standards.

Academic Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise junior residents, interns, and medical students.
  • Present cases, seminars, journal clubs, and mortality/morbidity meetings.
  • Participate in clinical research, audits, and publications.
  • Attend CMEs, workshops, and departmental academic activities.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain departmental records and treatment databases.
  • Assist in quality improvement initiatives and NABH/NABL compliance activities.
  • Participate in duty rosters, emergency services, and departmental meetings.
