Senior Resident – Cardiac Anaesthesia

Designation: Senior Resident
Reports to: Consultant / Head of Cardiac Anaesthesia
Key responsibilities
- Provide perioperative anaesthesia care for adult and paediatric cardiac surgery patients.
- Preoperative assessment and optimisation of patients undergoing cardiac procedures.
- Conduct and assist with general anaesthesia for CABG, valve surgery, congenital heart surgery, aortic surgery and other major cardiac procedures.
- Manage high-risk and critically ill cardiac patients in the ICU.
- Perform/assist with invasive monitoring including arterial and central venous access.
- Exposure to TEE/TOE and perioperative echocardiography is desirable.
- Manage postoperative haemodynamic instability, bleeding, arrhythmias and other complications.
- Participate in emergency cardiac surgery and on-call duties.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in morbidity/mortality meetings and academic activities.
- Teach and supervise junior residents and trainees.
