Staff Nurse
Roles & Responsibilities of Radiology Nurse:
- Receiving patient for requested radiography and verify the request.
- Verifying patient identity and instruct the patient for radiographic preparation
- Change of dress, remove any metallic elements in the dress etc.
- Verify the LMP and pregnancy status in female patients.
- Explain the radiographic procedure and respond to any certain specific questions
- Assist in positioning the patient, according to the requirements of radiation safety
- Qualified on intervene injection following protocol.
- Has some knowledge on the side effect of the drug injected before the procedure.
- Maintains knowledge on the drug used for the contrast
- Attends HIC classes, to practice as per the protocol
- Successful completed and Qualifying in ACLS
- Assist in managing the code blue.
- Has knowledge on protocol of transferring patient back to the department / unit
- Monitoring of Vital: Signs, Pulse, Respiration, Blood Pressure when needed.
- Hygiene and comfort of patient- provided exposure to HIC sessions
- Knowledge on the pain management / practice / documentation
- Knowledge on Medication management: Oral, Intramuscular, Intravenous,
- Intradermal, Subcutaneous, Drug Calculation, Adverse drug reactions
- Knowledge on Oxygen therapy- Oxygen delivery through different port
- Able to do Suctioning (Endotracheal and Oral)
- Processing patient samples for ABG, VBG, GRBS, CARDIAC SOB, ACT & PT INR on POCT devices.
- Performs Allen’s test, draws arterial blood and perform Arterial Blood Gas and Venous Blood Gas analysis for patient samples.
- Monitors and update the critical value reporting documents for all POCT reports. Informing panic value to treating consultants and document the same.
Education: GNM/ B.SC. Nursing from a recognized institute.
Experience: Basic Knowledge of Nursing’s Procedures. Fresher and above.
Skill set:
A) Technical Skill set:
- Document the initial assessment findings in the progress notes.
- Monitor vital signs routine / as per the orders and document it.
- Ensure replacement of medicines.
- Post all IP issues and bedside procedures.
- Complete all relevant documents.
- Check the patient’s records for any changes, special orders etc.
B) Behavioral Competencies:
- Ability to perform well under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal skills using the teamwork concept, A great team player with excellent communication skills,
- Cool tempered with emotional and physical stamina.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
General Responsibilities
- Works evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays according to the schedule compiled by the head of department.
- Monitors clinical and other established indicators to ensure ongoing quality assurance.
- Strictly adheres to organization’s regulations and policies especially those related to infection control, patient safety.
- Supports Continuous Quality Improvement and participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service.
- Participates and contributes to scheduled in-service training programs like ACLS, BLS, CNEs, CMEs, in house activities, conferences or other programs as requested.
- Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, associates, and Management.
- Maintains confidentiality as per the agreement signed.
- Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
- Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and Demonstrates respect for them.
- Carries out other duties when requested by the Head of department.
- To work along with the nursing team ensuring good quality teamwork.
