Job Purpose:

To control and maintain cleanliness in the hospital.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Infection control and maintenance of cleanliness in the hospital at all times.
  • Interaction with medical faculty, nursing, Engineering and maintenance department materials management department, Human Resources Department, Security, Laundry and general administration in matters relating to Housekeeping and infection control.
  • Follow instructions of Ex. Housekeeper in order to maintain hospital standards of Cleanliness, Sanitization, Aesthetics, Safety & Comfort in all areas- High risk, Medium risk & Low risk.
  • Brief HK people at the beginning and end of shifts & train them as per hospital standards to get maximum output
  • Participate in meeting of infection Control Committee and implement the decisions of the committee related to housekeeping matters.
  • Deciding on the SOP’s and frequency of cleaning required at different areas/ items to the satisfaction of the concerned department and follow them at all times.
  • Visit different areas of hospital, (more particularly patient floors) and communicate with patients/their relatives and hospital staff to find out any problems related to housekeeping & suggestions for improvement, followed by expeditor's corrective actions.
  • Responsible for the accurate usage of all HK consumable items and must be vigilant for consumption of materials to encourage optimum use & avoid inadequate or excessive use of items.
  • Carry out a time utilization work study especially when wastage of time is suspected and corrective actions must be implemented accordingly.
  • Take a walk around to inspect  bathrooms, toilets, garbage area,administrative office etc. for any leakage, seepage, water logging, odor, condition of doors vendors etc, to generally assess the quality of cleaning zone done, and take immediate action to rectify defects and deficiencies if noticed during the inspection visits.
  • Organize meetings within the Department to get proper feedback from the staff about any problems faced by them which hampers their work, their suggestions, personal grievances etc. followed by corrective steps.
  • Responsible for assigned areas & Floors
  • Maintain all HK machines and Equipments.
  • Maintain HK daily, monthly reports and regularly report to administration in Charge.
  • Ensure smooth operations & proper ways of Infection Control & Garbage Disposal.
  • Ensure adequate communication and coordination among HK staff thus, building team spirit.
  • Majority of the employee in Housekeeping Department are attendant Category, who are generally less literate and belong to socially and economically weaker sections of the society requiring constant and continuous counseling on personal hygiene, attitudes towards allotted work, their domestic problems strong traditional beliefs, and superstitions, work etiquette’s, discipline and personal appearance while.
  • Treat every internal & external customer with courtesy & compassion.
  • Responsible for additional job responsibilities along with special jobs assigned by H.O.D.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Verbal Ability/Communication Skill: Ability to comprehend verbal instructions given by the supervisor or head of the department.
  • To give accurate and tactful explanations to patients. Problem solving/ Decision-making
  • To think independently and exercise own judgment.
  • Able to work accurately and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend written instructions given by the Doctors and the other related departmental personnel.
  • Ability to plan & organize ones work schedule effectively.
  • Speaking and listening are essential requirements to understand and carry out the instructions given by the supervisors and other related departmental personnel.
