Job Purpose:

To determines goals, aims, objectives and policies of the Nursing Services, recruit nurses, maintain the discipline and rosters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Nursing supervisors have to manage the units they are in charge of
  • They have to handle mostly the nurses in the unit and provide them with adequate care.
  • They have to coordinate with the nurses and doctors of the unit and also with the management of the hospital.
  • They also coordinate with the unit heads and clerical staff in the unit.
  • They have to review the cleanliness of the unit and ensure that it is in good condition.
  • They have to review medicines and other materials in the unit and keep a record of them in their duty.
  • They take rounds and enquire personally about the patient's health.
  • They have to look into the complaints made by patients rectify them immediately.
  • Nursing supervisors have to report to the NS on the unit performance .
  • Evaluates the quality of nursing care.
  • Identifies, analyzes and resolves administrative problems by direct intervention or by   notification of appropriate personnel.
  • Collaborates with doctors, specialists and administrative personnel to solve clients’ problems.
  • To attend  all the codes and the death protocols of the hospital
  • Performs regular rounds accompanied by charge nurse of assigned units to ensure quality client care.
  • Investigates and evaluates reports of unusual occurrence, takes timely and appropriate action including completion of necessary documentation, and notifies the concerned staff such as NSI, FALL, and MEDICATION ERROR in his duty.
  • Participates in Nursing Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives, in-service education programs, unit/ward meetings, and committee functions as assigned.01
  • To maintain the night report register and record of staff utilization with correct nurse patient ratio in his duty.
  • Acts as a leader to encourage all staff personnel.
  • BLS and ACLS trained.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Verbal Ability/Communication Skill: Ability to comprehend verbal instructions given by the supervisor or head of the department.
  • To give accurate and tactful explanations to patients. Problem solving/ Decision-making
  • To think independently and exercise own judgment.
  • Able to work accurately and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to comprehend written instructions given by the Doctors and the other related departmental personnel.
  • Ability to plan & organize ones work schedule effectively.
  • Speaking and listening are essential requirements to understand and carry out the instructions given by the supervisors and other related departmental personnel.
  • Affinity to work in team.
  • Enthusiasm.
  • Open-mindedness
