Quality Nurse
Job Summary
The Quality Nurse is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and improving patient care quality and safety standards in compliance with NABH and JCI accreditation requirements. The role ensures adherence to clinical protocols, patient safety goals, infection control practices, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Accreditation & Compliance

Ensure compliance with NABH and JCI standards across all nursing units

Participate in accreditation preparation, internal audits, and external assessments

Maintain documentation required for audits and inspections

Assist in policy formulation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
B. Quality Monitoring & Improvement
-
Monitor key quality indicators (e.g., medication errors, falls, infection rates)
-
Conduct regular audits (clinical, nursing documentation, patient safety)

Analyze data and prepare quality reports and dashboards
-
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
C. Patient Safety
-
Promote International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG)

Report and analyze adverse events, sentinel events, and near misses
-
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure closure of incidents
-
Ensure safe medication practices and patient identification protocols
D. Infection Control
-
Collaborate with infection control team for surveillance activities
-
Monitor hand hygiene compliance and biomedical waste management

Participate in infection prevention audits and training
-
Ensure adherence to sterilization and disinfection protocols
E. Training & Education

Conduct training sessions for nursing and clinical staff on quality standards

Educate staff on NABH/JCI requirements and updates

Participate in induction and continuous nursing education programs

Develop training materials and competency assessments
F. Documentation & Records

Ensure accurate and complete nursing documentation

Maintain audit records, incident reports, and compliance logs

Review patient records for quality and legal compliance

Standardize formats and ensure version control of documents
G. Patient Experience & Feedback

Monitor patient satisfaction scores and feedback

Participate in grievance redressal mechanisms

Implement initiatives to improve patient experience

Support patient-centered care practices
H. Coordination & Communication

Liaise between nursing staff, doctors, and quality department

Participate in quality meetings, committees, and reviews
-
Support interdisciplinary teamwork for quality initiatives
