Consultant
- Responsible for prompt, adequate and qualitative care of the patients coming to E/D.
- Responsible to provide a continuous, on site medical support service to meet the need of patient.
- Responsible for delegation of duties to medical officers & nursing staff working in department.
- To encourage & organize proper patient care and ensure all staff are adhere to organizational policies & processes.
- To maintain & upgrade the recorded & Register of E/D.
- Supervise and ensure M.O. & Nursing staff:
- To attend any new patient (admission) immediately
- To examine & take a proper history of the patient (If he is in a position to give it on his own) or from his relative.
- Check any previous records, if available.
- Charts down all the details in the history sheet.
- Let the point or his relative go through all the details and take his signature on the history sheet for MLC Cases.
- Discuss with respective consultant on call about the admission & follow his orders.
- Instruct the nursing staff about the necessary orders to be carried out.
- Inform the respective consultants whenever seems significant.
- Attend rounds with the respective consultants and carry out the necessary changes in the order. Enter them in the treatment sheet.
- Fill the Medicine Card and Non Drug Order sheet
- To follow up with all the investigations to be seen and trace their results.
- Note down investigation results in the investigation sheet.
- To Document Verbal Orders correctly in clinical notes if given by consultants.
- To activate code blue if any medical emergency is encountered beyond your control.
- To identify the critical status of patient and shift him to critical care area in time.
- Always contact primary consultant if found necessary at any point of time.
- Medico Legal Case/Brought in Death:
- Identify the MLC/BID
- Proper police information as per need of the case.
- To get the assessment sheet consultant order,pre operation order, treatment sheet dully filled by M.O.
- Conduct supervisory round of patient labeled as MLC and ensure safe disposal of records/document.
- Investigating complaints, proper recording and recommendation for disciplinary action.
- Conduct training session/work assign by DMS/MS.
- To create a team of staff for the benefit and welfare patient and smooth functioning of the department.
- General:
- To attend camps according to the policy.
- To work as per Policies and procedures of organization.
- To get the cross referral form filled and call cross consultants according to the policy.
- Use capital letters for medicines (Generic Names/ Salt) and always put sign, name, date and time with every entry you make.
- To take care about completeness of records
- To participate in quality improvement programs and training sessions
- To act accordingly as per communicated by hospital management team.
- In-Service Education & Promotion of Organization:
- Promote patient care by liaisoning with all departments.
- Participate in the in-service education program, inclusive of CPR, Health & Safety Training and Fire.
- Ensure medical competence by continual professional development and reading of current medical journals.
- Promote the centre by showing empathy and compassion to patients, their families and friends.
Promote the centre by demonstrating a customer –focused approach at all times to patients, consultants and staff.
