Patient Care and Treatment Delivery

  • Deliver radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist.

  • Position patients accurately using immobilization devices and imaging guidance (e.g., CT, MRI, X-ray, cone-beam CT).

  • Monitor patients during treatment for adverse reactions or complications.

  • Explain procedures and address patient concerns to provide emotional support.

2. Technical and Operational Duties

  • Operate linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment.

  • Perform simulation and treatment planning procedures in collaboration with dosimetrists and medical physicists.

  • Conduct quality assurance (QA) checks on equipment and treatment plans.

  • Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation.

3. Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with the oncology care team (physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses).

  • Participate in patient review meetings and provide feedback on treatment progress.

  • Communicate changes or issues with treatment delivery to appropriate team members.

4. Safety and Compliance

  • Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self.

  • Comply with institutional, state, and national regulations (e.g., NRC, ARRT, CAMRT).

  • Participate in continuing education to stay current with advances in radiation therapy
