Patient Care and Treatment Delivery

Deliver radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist.

Position patients accurately using immobilization devices and imaging guidance (e.g., CT, MRI, X-ray, cone-beam CT).

Monitor patients during treatment for adverse reactions or complications.

Explain procedures and address patient concerns to provide emotional support.
2. Technical and Operational Duties

Operate linear accelerators and other radiation therapy equipment.

Perform simulation and treatment planning procedures in collaboration with dosimetrists and medical physicists.

Conduct quality assurance (QA) checks on equipment and treatment plans.

Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation.
3. Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with the oncology care team (physicians, physicists, dosimetrists, nurses).

Participate in patient review meetings and provide feedback on treatment progress.

Communicate changes or issues with treatment delivery to appropriate team members.
4. Safety and Compliance
-
Follow radiation safety protocols to protect patients, staff, and self.

Comply with institutional, state, and national regulations (e.g., NRC, ARRT, CAMRT).

Participate in continuing education to stay current with advances in radiation therapy
