Clinical Duties
-
Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to physician orders and safety protocols

Perform diagnostic imaging procedures such as bone scans, cardiac stress tests, renal scans, thyroid studies, PET scans, and other nuclear medicine exams

Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment (gamma cameras, PET/SPECT scanners)

Position patients correctly and monitor them during procedures

Evaluate image quality and make technical adjustments as needed

Assist physicians during therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures (e.g., radioactive iodine therapy)
Patient Care

Explain procedures to patients and answer questions to reduce anxiety

Verify patient identity, medical history, and exam requirements
-
Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately
-
Provide compassionate care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality
Radiation Safety & Compliance
-
Follow ALARA principles and radiation safety standards
-
Handle, store, and dispose of radioactive materials according to regulatory guidelines
-
Perform contamination surveys and maintain radiation exposure records
-
Comply with hospital policies, state regulations, and NRC requirements
