Clinical Duties

  • Prepare, measure, and administer radiopharmaceuticals according to physician orders and safety protocols

  • Perform diagnostic imaging procedures such as bone scans, cardiac stress tests, renal scans, thyroid studies, PET scans, and other nuclear medicine exams

  • Operate and maintain nuclear medicine imaging equipment (gamma cameras, PET/SPECT scanners)

  • Position patients correctly and monitor them during procedures

  • Evaluate image quality and make technical adjustments as needed

  • Assist physicians during therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures (e.g., radioactive iodine therapy)

Patient Care

  • Explain procedures to patients and answer questions to reduce anxiety

  • Verify patient identity, medical history, and exam requirements

  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and respond appropriately

  • Provide compassionate care while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality

Radiation Safety & Compliance

  • Follow ALARA principles and radiation safety standards

  • Handle, store, and dispose of radioactive materials according to regulatory guidelines

  • Perform contamination surveys and maintain radiation exposure records

  • Comply with hospital policies, state regulations, and NRC requirements
