Incharge
- Take overall responsibility for the coordination and safe effective management of the Unit.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in the delivery of high standards of effective healthcare.
- Develops and maintains standards of Nursing systems and policies and Client care in the Unit.
- Maintain safe and infection free environment in the Unit.
- Provide inputs for preparation and monitoring of Departmental budget and recommend annual capital equipment for the Unit.
- Ensures optimum utilization of resources and quality assurance in service delivery.
- Promote and collaborate in developing good working relationships with departments to ensure the client journey is effective and efficient.
- Evaluate Unit performance and contribute to its up gradation / improvement.
- Possesses knowledge of codes and other safety measures for patients and mentors the nurses with the same practices.
- Ensures that nurses follow standardized handoff practices in patient care areas.
- Ensures continuity of care based on patient’s needs.
- Conducts daily Unit rounds and addresses any issues related to nursing care and taking corrective/preventive action where necessary.
- Ensure compliance on documentation as per the policy.
Unit Management
- Manage leave/attendance/duty roster of Nurses.
- Escalates to Nursing Supervisor if there is need for additional manpower during shifts.
- Escalates to Nursing Superintendent regarding additional manpower requirements.
- Privileging, competency assessment and orientation of new joiners.
- Actively participate in training and development of nurses.
- Set patient assignments, inventory task in the beginning of shift and evaluate nurses job performance.
- Participates actively in performance appraisal process
- Escalate nurses leave without pay on time to NS and HR
- Maintains sound inventory management in the unit.
- Tracking and maintaining data of quality indicators.
- Reporting of medication error, incidents and ensure corrective action where necessary and escalate if required.
- One to one counselling in disciplining nurses who fail to fulfil their job responsibilities
- Provides educational platform to abreast their knowledge.
- Up date knowledge on current evidence based practice.
To complete any other work assigned/ required from time to time basis.
