Job Responsibilities

To ensure overall incharge of all the equipment's, their optimum functional performance, calibration, quality assurance and maintenance.

To ensure to coordinate with consultants, equipment suppliers, their engineers, hospital maintenance departments and regulatory authorities.
To ensure to plan new Installations and modify existing ones (where necessary from regulatory point of view).
To ensure to maintain the inventory of all radiation sources.
To ensure to supervised source of transfer, operations of tele gamma and Brachy therapy unit.
To ensure that Work, Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures are followed as per NABH and other concerned government bodies.
To ensure that all desired records are maintained and updated from time to time.

CALIBRATION AND QUALITY ASSURANCE

To ensure to perform quality assurance test for all radiation generating equipment's as per department protocol weekly, monthly, annually as specified.
To document the tests conducted and to inform Senior Physicist if any derivation found from acceptance levels.
Calibration of Radiation Sources and performing QA Tests of Brachy machine as per BARC acceptance protocol, during source exchange.

TREATMENT PANNING

To ensure to coordinate with all concerned for planning and execution of planned treatment for external beam radiotherapy and brachytherapy.

EDUCATION

To provide education and training of Junior Medical Physicist Including Radiological safety to physicians (SR/JR/DNB), nurses, technologists, engineers as well as trainee physicists.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

To ensure to carry out research and development of new techniques, equipment, and methodologies of continued improvement in diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities and safety of patients. To carry out inter comparison of dosimetry systems with national and international organizations from time to time. Evaluate entrance and exit doses to the patients and carry out dosimetry in phantoms simulating newer treatment techniques.

PATIENT DOSIMETRY PLANNING

To ensure working & calibration of positioning Lasers in CT Linacs every week & document.
To ensure to import the CT data of patient planned and make the body contours. To coordinate with CT Technician for proper data transfer, if any problem encountered.
To plan the Patient with the contoured CT data and evaluate with the Consultant incharge for final implementation.
To ensure to calculate the non-CT planned data.
To ensure to verification files and documents the planed data in Teletherapy prescription chart.
To ensure that the Counter check the calculations of all the planned data of the week by every Saturday.
To ensure to perform review calculations & document then.
To ensure to complete the details of teletherapy treatment data when patient computes the course of treatment, in the Teletherapy prescription chart.
To ensure that concern person to do Brach therapy dosimetric planning with semi orthogonal X-rays and evaluate the plan with the treating consultant.
To ensure to execute the brachytherapy treatment, ensuring the safety of patient & staff and document the details in Physicist Register.

EQUPIMENT MAINTENANCE

To be present with the service engineer whenever instructed on break down of equipment's while servicing and accept machine in working condition.
