Job Purpose:
To provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients under supervision, assist in the management of cancer-related treatments, and gain clinical competency in oncology nursing through practical exposure and academic learning.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Care:
    • Assist in providing nursing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or post-surgical cancer care.
    • Monitor vital signs, manage IV lines, and observe for side effects or complications.
    • Maintain patient hygiene, comfort, and emotional well-being.
  2. Clinical Support:
    • Support the oncology nursing team in administering medications under supervision.
    • Prepare and handle cytotoxic drugs safely, following infection control and safety protocols.
    • Assist in specimen collection and documentation.
  3. Documentation & Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes, treatment records, and reports.
    • Report any abnormal findings or patient concerns to the supervising nurse or physician.
  4. Patient & Family Education:
    • Educate patients and their families about disease process, treatment plan, and post-discharge care.
    • Provide psychosocial support and promote adherence to treatment.
  5. Learning & Development:
    • Participate in clinical postings, seminars, case discussions, and workshops as part of the academic curriculum.
    • Develop knowledge and skills related to oncology nursing practices and palliative care.
    • Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and professional behavior at all times.
  6. Infection Control & Safety:
    • Follow infection prevention protocols strictly.
    • Use PPE appropriately while handling chemotherapy or biohazard materials.
    • Ensure safe disposal of biomedical waste.
