Job Purpose:

To provide comprehensive nursing care to oncology patients under supervision, assist in the management of cancer-related treatments, and gain clinical competency in oncology nursing through practical exposure and academic learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Patient Care:
- Assist in providing nursing care to patients undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or post-surgical cancer care.
- Monitor vital signs, manage IV lines, and observe for side effects or complications.
- Maintain patient hygiene, comfort, and emotional well-being.
Clinical Support:
- Support the oncology nursing team in administering medications under supervision.
- Prepare and handle cytotoxic drugs safely, following infection control and safety protocols.
- Assist in specimen collection and documentation.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes, treatment records, and reports.
- Report any abnormal findings or patient concerns to the supervising nurse or physician.
Patient & Family Education:
- Educate patients and their families about disease process, treatment plan, and post-discharge care.
- Provide psychosocial support and promote adherence to treatment.
Learning & Development:
- Participate in clinical postings, seminars, case discussions, and workshops as part of the academic curriculum.
- Develop knowledge and skills related to oncology nursing practices and palliative care.
- Adhere to hospital policies, ethical standards, and professional behavior at all times.
Infection Control & Safety:
- Follow infection prevention protocols strictly.
- Use PPE appropriately while handling chemotherapy or biohazard materials.
- Ensure safe disposal of biomedical waste.
