Technician
Sample Collection & Processing:
- Ensure proper collection, labelling, and processing of blood, urine, and other clinical specimens.
- Verify patient identification and maintain sample integrity from collection to analysis.
Testing & Analysis:
- Perform routine and specialized tests in:
- Hematology: CBC, ESR, peripheral smear, reticulocyte count
- Biochemistry: Liver function, renal profile, electrolytes, glucose, lipids, etc.
- Immunology & Serology: HIV, HBsAg, HCV, VDRL, Widal, RA, CRP, etc.
- Clinical Pathology: Urine analysis, stool analysis, body fluid analysis
- Operate and calibrate lab equipment like analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, and autoanalyzers.
Quality Control & Assurance:
- Conduct daily internal quality control (IQC) and participate in external quality assurance programs (EQAS).
- Ensure test results meet accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity standards.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Validate and release results after cross-checking abnormal/critical values.
- Maintain proper documentation, logs, and records of tests, calibrations, and QC data.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensure timely calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of lab instruments.
- Coordinate with biomedical team or vendors for equipment service and upkeep.
Supervision & Training:
- Guide junior technicians and lab assistants in routine operations and SOP adherence.
- Train new staff in safety, sample handling, and testing protocols.
Compliance & Safety:
- Follow infection control and biosafety protocols as per NABL/NABH guidelines.
- Ensure proper disposal of bio-medical waste and chemical reagents.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficient in using automated and semi-automated analyzers
- Familiar with NABL accreditation processes and documentation
- Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret test results
- Good communication and team leadership skills
- Proficient in LIS (Laboratory Information System) and MS Office
