Technician
Key Responsibilities –
- Receiving of the samples in Athma software, processing of the samples- like plating on agar plates, striking and keeping the plates to incubators.
- Helping the Microbiologist in reporting the culture plates.
- Growth in culture plates is processed for further identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing both by manual method and automated, Vitek -2 compact system.
- Preparing various media using autoclave for culture.
- Autoclaving the waste generated in the Microbiology laboratory (eg. Blood culture bottles, Agar plates etc.) for pre-treatment purpose prior to handing them over to the vendor.
- Use and evaluate various commercial and research methods, and format existing assays onto new platforms.
- Validate new assays under a quality system and participate in the test and evaluation of new technologies as necessary.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of a quality control system and ensure that equipment, reagents, and supplies are maintained and used properly.
- Assist with the review of data to ensure proper quality control.
- Participate in the implementation of a quality system to include preparing SOPs, QC reports, and other material required to implement a quality system.
- Work independently and prepare technical and scientific reports as required and will be responsible for daily organization and operation of the laboratory.
- To run the EQAS samples and reporting of the samples.
- To check any pending report.
- Present research findings at internal and external meetings, including conferences and other scientific forums.
- To participate in training programs to maintain and update the professional knowledge.
