JOB PURPOSE:
To treat patients referred to Critical Care Unit
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY

- CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Cognitive Clinical Management:
- To assist in performing patient selection and admission in AITU*
- To assist in performing and documentation history & physical examination
- To assist in formulation differential diagnosis
- To assist in developing and documentation of initial plan of care*
- To assist in modification of daily plan of care*
- To assist in writing daily progress notes
- To assist in ordering appropriate referrals*
- To assist in ordering appropriate investigations*
- To assist to follow up implementation of appropriate plan of care decided by Consultants
- To assist in interpretation of hemodynamic parameters in critically ill patients*
- To assist in interpretation of laboratory & radiology results*
- To assist in ordering transfusions of blood and blood products*
- To assist in ordering appropriate medication and other orders*
- To assist in performing patient selection and discharge from AITU*
* Requires discussion/ supervision or presence of Consultant Intensivist and above
Clinical Non-invasive Management:
- To assist in performing cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation
- To assist in ordering and adjustment of artificial feeding modalities*
* Requires discussion/supervision or presence of Consultant Intensivist and above
Clinical Invasive Management:
- To assist in insertion of invasive lines for hemodynamic monitoring*
- To assist in performing oral endotracheal intubation*
- To assist in performing nasogastric tube insertion*
- To assist in insertion urethral catheter*
* Requires discussion/supervision or presence of Consultant Intensivist and above
- ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
- To participate in clinical data collection and ongoing audits of the department.
- To help in Electronic Health Record management.
- To participate in ongoing clinical research activities of the department
- To implement the following:
- Current infection control guidelines & Compliance to hand hygiene > 95% in AITU
- Compliance to bundle cares
- Compliance to antibiotic stewardship
- Ensuring CLABSI / CAUTI & VAP is within institutional targets
- Participation in formulation of AITU Protocols
