JOB PURPOSE:

 

To treat patients referred to Critical Care Unit

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

  1. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY

  1. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITY:

 

           Cognitive Clinical Management:

  • To assist in performing patient selection and admission in AITU*
  • To assist in performing and documentation history & physical examination
  • To assist in formulation differential diagnosis                                                                                
  • To assist in developing and documentation of initial plan of care*
  • To assist in modification of daily plan of care*
  • To assist in writing daily progress notes
  • To assist in ordering appropriate referrals*
  • To assist in ordering appropriate investigations*
  • To assist to follow up implementation of appropriate plan of care decided by Consultants
  • To assist in interpretation of hemodynamic parameters in critically ill patients*
  • To assist in interpretation of  laboratory & radiology results*
  • To assist in ordering transfusions of blood and blood products*
  • To assist in ordering appropriate medication and other orders*
  • To assist in performing patient selection and discharge from AITU*

 

* Requires discussion/ supervision or presence of Consultant Intensivist and above

 

            Clinical Non-invasive Management:

  • To assist in performing cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation
  • To assist in ordering and adjustment of artificial feeding modalities*

 

* Requires discussion/supervision or presence of Consultant Intensivist and above

 

            Clinical Invasive Management:   

  • To assist in insertion of invasive lines for hemodynamic monitoring*
  • To assist in performing oral endotracheal intubation*
  • To assist in performing nasogastric tube insertion*
  • To assist in insertion urethral catheter*

 

* Requires discussion/supervision or presence of Consultant Intensivist and above

 

 

  1. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
  • To participate in clinical data collection and ongoing audits of the department.
  • To help in Electronic Health Record management. 
  • To participate in ongoing clinical research activities of the department
  • To implement the following:
  1. Current infection control guidelines & Compliance to hand hygiene > 95% in AITU
  2. Compliance to bundle cares
  3. Compliance to antibiotic stewardship
  4. Ensuring CLABSI / CAUTI & VAP is within institutional targets
  • Participation in formulation of AITU Protocols
